NOSH FOR A CAUSE
Thank you to everyone who attended and supported our event in April 2015!

The Burnaby Empty Bowls Committee is excited to announce the date of our eighth biennial Gala Reception. On Thursday, April 23, 2015, we we will host a fabulous event which will raise funds towards school and community food programs in our community while treating guests to bites prepared by some of Burnaby’s finest chefs! You’re invited!
In 2013, we raised over $40,000 for the committee. We hope to equal or surpass that goal this year.
The reception-style Gala will be held in the Crystal Ballroom of Burnaby’s four-diamond Hilton Vancouver Metrotown Hotel.
Bites for the event will be prepared by celebrated local chefs, including:
- Chef Scott Jaeger of The Pear Tree Restaurant
- Chef Tong Lim of the Hilton, and
- Baker Jack Kuyer of The Valley Bakery.
Tasty samplings will also be created by:
- Burnaby School District's ACE-it Culinary Program, led by renowned culinary instructor Steve Wade
- Cioffi's
- Next Jen, and
- Ocean Mama.
All are sure to surprise and delight you with their culinary creations!
Guests will also enjoy jazz music by the Now’s the Time Trio, under the leadership of musician and Burnaby educator Aaron Hardie. The silent auction will be laden with an amazing array of quality items for bidding, including handcrafted items from local artisans. In addition, each guest at the Gala will be given a beautifully handcrafted ceramic bowl, made by Lower Mainland potters, to take home as a memento and a reminder to help fill the empty bowls in Burnaby.
Proceeds will go to the Burnaby Empty Bowls Committee, a coalition of community service organizations and community members who work to address issues of food security and hunger in Burnaby. We invite you to join us for a fun evening at this worthwhile event! Click around our website to find out more information!
